Please join WICT NY for a Leadership Breakfast with Gwen Marcus, Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Showtime Networks on Thursday, January 26th. Learn about her career path, hear about her passion for issues affecting the LGBT community and receive great leadership advice from one of cable's top executives. 
 
WICT NY Leadership Breakfast Series provides personal access to executive leaders in our industry within an intimate setting. Speakers highlight their career path and answer questions from the attendees.  Previous speakers include Maria Perez-Brown (nuvoTV), Herb Scannell (BBC America), Sam Howe (Time Warner), and Tonia O'Connor (Univision).

 ABOUT GWEN MARCUS
 
H. Gwen Marcus, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, is Showtime Networks’ chief legal officer, and an integral member of the company’s senior management team. Ms. Marcus has been with Showtime Networks for over 27 years, having practiced entertainment law before that at the New York law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.  She is often recognized by industry publications as a top executive in her field, including CableFAX: The Magazine, which regularly names her one of the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Cable, and Multichannel News, which in 2009 awarded her its prestigious Wonder Woman honor.  In 2010, Inside Counsel named Ms. Marcus the recipient of its First Annual Transformative Leadership Sharing the Power Award for advancing the economic empowerment of women in the law, and featured a profile of her in its January 2011 issue.
 
In her spare time, Ms. Marcus is a frequent speaker on LGBT-related diversity issues in the workplace and serves on the Board of two not-for-profit corporations, Theatre Development Fund, and the LGBT Community Center of New York, which awarded her its Corporate Leader Award in 2006, and elected her Board Co-Chair in 2009.  She has also been honored by other not-for-profit organizations over the years, including POWER UP (Professional Organization of Women in Entertainment Reaching Up, which named her one of the Ten Most Amazing Gay Women in Showbiz), Cable Positive, GMHC, and the YWCA of the City of New York.
 
A member of the New York Bar, Ms. Marcus graduated magna cum laude from Brandeis University with a Phi Beta Kappa key, and cum laude from New York University School of Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as an Articles Editor of the New York University Law Review.
